On 8/27/2025, Deputies, Officers, and Troopers in Chaves County responded to a call for a suicidal subject.  Unfortunately, when they arrived, they were ambushed.  During the ensuing gun battle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition were fired by the suspect, and left one Roswell police officer and one Chaves County deputy injured.   Luckily, the Roswell Police Officers' injuries were minor, but Deputy Lorenzo Salas was not as lucky.  Deputy Salas was transported to Lubbock for treatment and is now home, recovering with his girlfriend, who is also a Roswell Police Officer, and their three-month-old child.  Your purchase of a Support Salas T-Shirt or Hoodie shirt will show support for all of your local heroes, and a portion of all proceeds will go directly to Deputy Salas to help him with any financial issues that may arise as a result of his injuries.
